Although I was born in San Francisco's Chinatown my ancestors came from the Canton region of Southern China. We are from the area known as "Nam Hoi, Sai Chew," and specifically the village known as "Yin Kew." Translated it means "Smokey or Foggy Bridge." Our village had a bridge over a lake that led one to the entrance to the village. This was helpful because the area was often foggy and it was...

RIP my friend. I always remember his birthday on April 1st.
Great stuff!
Marvelous!
Mentira lo que siempre divulgó sobre Segovia
This really is a beautiful piece, ¡encantado mucho!👏
Wonderfully played, Tim.
Amazing, as always dear Larry, I miss y’all!! Jo Borges💕
Mi version favorita ,
Beautiful, Tim.
Perfeito
Outstanding Bob always appreciated how tastefully you played. Your friend Paul deTimofeev
J'adore. Concert du 1er août 2023 par James Kline en l'église de Mornac-sur-Seudre (17) très émouvant pour moi. Le morceau Sérénade est puissant. Merci de votre venue ! Maguy
Que belleza de herencia argentina. Gracias José Luis Merlin .
This appears to be an arrangement by Paul Halley. Can anyone confirm? Beautiful!
This is good to see and to hear !😀
Larry! It’s so great to hear this tune. I like it s lot. Mike Ayala 1986 Student from City college SF of your guitar intermediate class. Still playing thanks to you!
Mind blowing. Absolute dominance. So musical. Plus you just look so damn cool
So beautiful. We sang this song in my high school choir more than 20 years ago. We had a student in our class who was from Sweden and she was brilliant at playing the intro on the flute. This song has such a powerful impact and it still moves me when I hear it. I wish I knew how to get ahold of this on an album.
sound like harp on this harp guitar alike. This is so simply amazing music.
hi, Tim, wow,,,so beautiful song and your singing. This song was originally a Cantonese song. I love this song went back in 1980s.
Thanks..Great to see Philip do one of the things he loves most...however , RIP brother!
It's not just great that you have a unique instrument, but a performer who actually know how to utilize it to it's fullest!
Wonderful to finally see one of my favourite composers for guitar.
Menua máquina
Beautiful 💕
Phil was an amazing man. I considered him a friend and a teacher. Thank you for posting this.
Love Leon Atkinson's Copeland!
This is great. Good to see David Cronin. Great playing! It has been too many years. Eric should know there is an issue with iTunes. Align tracks with composers so when Apple gives stupid names to those tracks he'll be able to change them when publishing them. Lack of money, covid and seeing Phil's published works seeming to have disappeared on Guitar Solo's pages has had me in slow mode. Hoping not to be taken out by a solar wind, I still have copies of Jeffrey Finder's work and others who provided the tracks for the Studio Recordings. Phil's sister Eric's aunt Carla has copies. William Kapell's children are friends I correspond with who go back to childhood. It took years to collect William Kapell's missing recordings. When we were children Dave Kapell had wire recordings of his father who regrettably died flying into SF from an Australian tour hitting the mountains through pilot error just east of Half Moon bay. Those wire recordings were all Chopin. Nocturnes, Etudes, Ballades, etc Great hearing a rendition of Serenade on Piano. Some guitar students from SF Conservatory I met coming out of the old Conservatory building, when I mentioned David Russel a few weeks agol, told me that he is coming in soon to teach a master class. Ask David Russell about Philip Rosheger was my suggestion, mentioning he was once on the guitar faculty. They will. It's the day before Election Day 2022. Wishing all Philips friends and family the best. What great playing! More kudos to Tim for all he has done for music in SF, and making it possible to hear Phil's work in various forms. I have to keep coming back myself. Frank Jaffe is someone to look up, too, for Phils work and for his own. That's where I am on this great set as I'm typing. Wow!
John Gilbert, the great guitar maker, told me that Phil used to stay at his house whenever he was in town on tour. David Russel, also, used to stay with John and Alice. David told John that Phil gave David his whole list of contacts (including all guitar societies and concert venues). David was touched and said that the gesture was rare among musicians.
On the last day of his life, I ran into Philip at North Berkeley BART, he reminded me that one of his pieces was dedicated to me, his happy chauffeur of six years after his Toyota gave out. That's the first one here, Muse's Dance. He regretted it was unpublished. I don't know of the others. So grateful to you, Tim Hall for all your postings. (Nick Binion)
Grande!!
Two magnificent souls, the guitar & you; a perfect mariage
V8 indeed!
hi Xuefei, from Tom feels good to connect with you again I have subscribed to your channel and I get to see you in videos I've never seen before I love the one's that have you close to the camera this one in particular shows your beauty and soft cheeks I love your laughter talking about your parents in china they introduce you to music and enjoying your lessons to go along with other studies not knowing you would be a professional musician
😊
Played this at the night at the museum during my freshman year.
hi, i just want to know the writer of this song, we sang this during our choral contest way back 1992, thanks
El guitarrista clásico Goryachev está en su derecho de interpretar al Maestro, de la misma manera que Paco se influenció mucho de la música clásica, y Monasterio tiene esa mezcla flamenca a la vez que clásica. Que fluya la música!
Beautiful!
This is about as perfect as this piece can be played.
Muy buena ejecución
Bad timing and coordination, and the melody doesn't stand out compared to the accompaniment
wow ! never thought to hear a good cover from this song - above all not on guitar... great job !
I have not heard this before - it is hauntingly beautiful.
Used to see Phil play on the street in Berkeley. Incredible talent. One of the most beautiful compositions and arrangements.
Beautifully played tha k you
Buja
Wow! What a great player!
